We get asked all the time why 'double' and why '!'? 'Double,' because this whiskey is created from two rye whiskeys (both a minimum of 2 years old; see highwest.com for technical details and sourcing.). The exclamation point is to signify our aim with this whiskey: showcase the beauty that is rye and create the spiciest rye whiskey in the world. We think we did that. The younger ne (sourced-by High West) is produced on a column still and tastes of cinnamon, dove, anise, eucalyptus buttons, and evergreen 'gin-like' flavors. The older rye (distilled by High West) made using a pot still adds a richer, bolder character and just enough caramel sweetness and woody vanilla richness to calm the 'bite' of the younger rye. The resulting combination is bold, balanced, complex and perfect for mixing. We recommend trying a Double Rye! Manhattan or Old Fashioned-it's also absolutely superb for sipping alone or sharing with other cowboys and good-looking strangers. Tullibardine distillery 1488. As a family owned, independent distillery, we believe in doing things the traditional way. A drop of pure highland gold. Handcrafted with passion. The history of Tullibardine for distilling and brewing is one of the oldest in Scotland. Located in Blackford, the gateway to the Highlands, it was here in 1488 that the young King James IV of Scotland stopped by on his return from his coronation, to purchase beer from the local brewery. This Is recorded as the first public purchase of beer. In 1947 the brewery was converted to a distillery. We have a plentiful supply of fresh spring water from the surrounding Ochil hills, which are also well known for the gold that was mined from them. The water which reaches the distillery has taken 15 years to reach the Danny Burn, which runs alongside the distillery. Tullibardine is a traditional working distillery. As one of the few remaining family owned distilleries, our small team of Artisan distillers, take enormous pride in handcrafting our single malt whisky.

So, we sent our superstar Malt Master, Kelsey McKechnie, on a quest for the perfect blend. She experimented with loads of bourbons before choosing the five ‘fingers’ that would make up our Fistful.
