With just a few cups of Coca-Cola and some spices, an ordinary pulled pork recipe is taken to the next level, with a sweet, savory flavor that’s hard to resist. Use some now and freeze the rest for later. Your future self will thank you.

Coca-Cola Pulled Pork

Ingredients
5 lb boneless pork butt or shoulder roast
1 liter (about 3, 12-oz cans) Coca-Cola
½ white or yellow onion, finely chopped
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili powder
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp kosher salt
Directions
  1. Add the first 6 ingredients to a slow cooker or covered baking dish.
  2. The Coca-Cola will fizz! Once it has subsided, sprinkle with 1 tbsp kosher salt.
  3. Cook 6 hours in the slow cooker or 3 hours in a 350° oven, until meat shreds easily and the roast is falling apart.
  4. Remove roast from cooking vessel.
  5. Set aside 1-2 cups of the braising liquid.
  6. Shred meat with a fork and add back to pot.
  7. Mix in 1-2 cups of Coca-Cola BBQ sauce.
  8. Add the braising liquid you set aside, as needed, when you reheat, in order to keep the meat moist.
