Josh Chardonnay, North Coast Reserve, Vintage 2017, 750 Millilitre, $14.99
My father's name was Joseph, but his friends just called him Josh. The North Coast region of California is an ideal place to grow Chardonnay. The area enjoy long warm sunny days and cool, foggy nights influenced by its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Our Josh Cellars North Coast Reserve Chardonnay has scents of lemon and green apple with a hint of vanilla and expresses a soft, mouth-coating texture. The contrast of warm days and cool nights enables the careful balance between ripeness and acidity. My Reserve Chardonnay is a special wine that I make for your family and friends and in honor of my Dad, Josh. - Joseph Carr Founder and Son. www.joshcellars.com. Alc 14.1% by vol. FAT BASTARD Fat Bastard Chardonnay, 2006, 750 Millilitre, $12.99
Remarkably full bodied. The origin of the Fat Bastard. Good friends Theirry (renowned French winemaker) & Guy (British wine industry rebel) created Fat Bastard almost by accident. It started out as an experiment Thierry had been doing in the back of his cellar, leaving a barrel on the lees (yeast cells). He didn't know what to expect, but when the friends tried the wine Thierry exclaimed: Now zat iz what you call eh Phet bast-ard! (read with a strong French accent). This very British expression perfectly described the wine's wonderful color and round, rich palate so that's what they called it. No one remembers exactly where the hippo came from. Alc. 13.5% by vol.
